Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Writings (writings.so) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Service. By using Writings, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. Your email address and authentication details, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider.
  • Content. The blogs, posts, and settings you create and publish through the Service.
  • Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by our payment provider (Paddle). We do not store your full card details; we retain subscription and billing status.
  • Analytics. We collect privacy-first, aggregated analytics on published blogs (such as view and read counts). Visitor identifiers are derived from a daily-salted, one-way hash and are not used to personally identify readers or track them across sites.
  • Essential cookies. We use cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Service;
  • authenticate you and secure your account;
  • process payments and manage subscriptions;
  • provide analytics to blog owners about their own blogs;
  • detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run the Service — including authentication (Clerk), database and hosting (Neon, Vercel), and payments (Paddle) — and only as needed for those functions. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the Service and its users.

Content you choose to publish is public by nature and visible to anyone who visits your blog.

4. Data retention

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete content or your account, we delete or de-identify the associated data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our Terms.

5. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update much of your information from your account settings, or contact us at privacy@writings.so to exercise these rights.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

9. Contact
